When tickets are auto merged, the merge event and comments show the name of the admin who authorized Auto Merge. To change that name, reauthorize the app as a different Zendesk admin.
You can use any admin login, but we recommend setting up a dedicated integration user, for example zendesk@example.com.
Sample integration user
Name: Zendesk Integration
Role: Admin
Email: zendesk@example.com
When the connected admin leaves or is deactivated
Auto Merge's API access is tied to the Zendesk admin who authorized it. If that admin is deactivated, deleted, or downgraded from Admin to Agent or End user, Auto Merge will break immediately and stop merging tickets.
To avoid any interruption, reauthorize Auto Merge as a different admin before deactivating or downgrading the original admin, not after.
Reauthorizing Auto Merge as a different admin
- Log in to Zendesk with the admin login you want to use.
- Go to Auto Merge Setup > Connection and click Deauthorize. The app reloads and takes you to the Get started page. If you get an error, refresh the page manually.
- Click Authorize.
